CSATs are required to attend over 300 hours of in-person classes, participate in 30 hours of clinical supervision, as well as ongoing continuing education courses to keep up-to-date with developing research in Sex Addiction and Betrayal. CSATs are also trained in Betrayal Trauma and healing relationships after betrayal.

The Gottman Method for Couple's Therapy is an evidence-based couple's therapy approach to improve relationships, compatibility, and intimacy. The Gottman Method for Couples Therapy has been established as "Evidence-Based Treatment for Same-Sex Couples."

EMDR-Trained Therapist
The EMDR Institute, Inc
An EMDR-Trained therapist is required to 20 hours of in-classroom training, 20 hours of direct supervised practice, and at least 10 hours of direct clinical supervision with a EMDR Institute approved Supervisor. There are no "levels" when it comes to EMDR training. There are EMDR-Trained therapists and there are EMDR-Certified therapists. EMDR-Certified Therapists are subject to the same requirements as EMDR-Trained therapists, but additionally they need 50 hours of supervised practice, 20 hours of consultation with an EMDR Certified Therapist, and 12 hours of continuing education units every 2 years.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
(LCSW)
California Board of Behavioral Sciences
LCSW's can practice psychotherapy after earning a Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW). MSW's must complete of 3200 hours of supervised face-to-face psychotherapy, and pass rigorous California State Board Exams. Once passed, and MSW becomes an LCSW. LCSWs are also required to complete ongoing Continuing Education Units each year. Evidence-based practices are taught in MSW Grad School Programs and throughout our trainings and professional experiences; some require specialized trainings.
LCSW's are trained in treating the person "in their environment," which is to consider mental and emotional health in the context of one's environment.
